Seven Ways to Leverage Generative AI for Your Business

Generative AI might be just the tool you need to improve your business operations.

Thanks to recent advancements in technology, businesses can access a myriad of tools and strategies to reach new realms of growth and efficiency. Among these transformative technologies, generative AI tools like ChatGPT are becoming increasingly commonplace, helping users quickly gather information and generate content.

However, as with any emerging technology, users may not always understand the best way to leverage generative AI. Below, Rolling Stone Culture Council members share how they’ve used generative AI to assist in their business endeavors and how they recommend other leaders follow suit.

Brainstorm Ideas

I’ve found an unexpected sidekick in AI. It’s not a great idea factory, but it’s super helpful for brainstorming — without me bothering my wife or colleagues! I can ask, “What rhymes with knuckles?” or “What red objects fit my show’s theme?” It’s like having a tireless, pun-loving assistant on standby. Most of my prompts contain “please,” so that I’ll be spared when Skynet becomes self-aware! – Seth Yudof, Fan Rebellion

Increase Speed of Deliverables

We are using generative AI to better our speed to deliver our product. We have created a new image generation product that is very subjective but takes zero time for our team. While the gains can be big, AI is very difficult to implement, as it’s not really as simple as people or the press communicate. – Adam Rumanek, Aux Mode Inc.

Enhance Responses to Negative Reviews

We take great pride in our commitment to learning from negative reviews and continuously improving our systems. To achieve this, we have implemented AI technology to help enhance our responses to better align with our desired outcome. By providing the system with precise information about the situation, we are able to convey our genuine concern while maintaining a firm stance when necessary. – Kelley Swing, Head Case Hair Studio

Write Ad and Contract Copy

We’ve just recently started to use generative AI as a tool in our creative space. Things like helping to write some ad copy, some contract phrasing and a few other details so far have come in handy — especially when you’re busy and need to get things done quickly. I see this bringing a lot of value to the table, depending on how useful to your business the tool can be. Always be wary of AI, though. – Chris Bianchi, CB Entertainment

Repurpose and Convert Old Projects

To repurpose old projects, I used AI software to take documents written on a typewriter — ones that had handwritten notes and were scanned and converted to PDFs years ago — and convert them to a Word doc. Within the 50-plus pages, it was astounding how much the software got right; it also got a lot wrong. For creative projects, you will need to proof all the conversions. – Susan Johnston, New Media Film Festival®

Gather Basic Data

I’ve been using Bard, Google’s AI, to help me quickly gather basic data, like demographic information for media sites and lists of well-known people or holidays. Though it still always needs to be fact-checked, it’s incredibly helpful to be able to make a rapid stream-of-consciousness search to get a starting point for further research. – Evan Nison, NisonCo

Develop Social Media and Marketing Strategies

First, I create a huge database with all the information about our marketing client, including info from the website, documentation, previous articles, blog posts and more. Then, I easily interact with it using plugins (AskPDF) or Code Interpreter to create a social media strategy, brainstorm ideas for PR releases or develop various marketing campaigns. – Tim Haldorsson, Lunar Strategy
